Scott Bennett

President

Mr. Bennett began his career in law enforcement in 1988 with the New Jersey State Police as a Trooper. During his tenure with the State Police he was assigned to a patrol unit whose primary mission was felony suppression and drug interdiction in high crime urban areas. After suffering a gunshot wound, Mr. Bennett entered the private security industry in 1995 as Vice President of National Expedite, a leader in the transportation industry.

After developing National Expedite into a multi-million dollar corporation, Mr. Bennett sold his interest in 1999. He then took several executive positions with a major contract security firms on the east coast where his talents as an administrator were quickly recognized in the industry. Mr. Bennett earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Rowan University in 1986. He furthered his education with a Police Training Certificate (PTC) from the New Jersey State Police Academy in 1988, completed a certificate course in Security Management from John Jay University in 2001, a Fire Safety Director Certificate course from Jersey City University in 2002 and most recently became a NJSP Certified Security Officer Instructor in 2006.

Mr. Bennett is a Licensed Private Investigator in the state of New Jersey, a Free Mason as well as a member of ASIS and the Former Troopers Association.

Barry Masuda

Corporate Consultant

Mr. Masuda has over 34 years of service in public law enforcement and corporate security.

He began his career as a police officer in Upper Moreland Township, Pennsylvania after obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement and Corrections from Penn State University in 1973. He received his Master’s Degree in Accounting at the Fox School of Business from Temple University in 1984 and joined WALDENBOOKS as an auditor investigator for the northeast region. Subsequently, he became the Director of Security for CARTIER, Inc., the Vice President of Loss Prevention for TOPS APPLIANCE CITY Inc., and the Vice President of GUESS, Inc.

He retired from private industry in 2002 and now serves as a senior security consultant for SBI. Mr. Masuda has authored numerous published articles and lectured internationally about crime control and suspect identification techniques. He has also designed and trademarked several security products that have been successfully applied in the retail industry: CARDWATCH, the first biometric anti-fraud device used to combat credit fraud, and the METER, an innovative surveillance tool.

He is a licensed private investigator, a certified fraud examiner, and a certified voice stress examiner. His consulting expertise emphasizes fidelity case investigation and recovery, asset tracing, creation and development of corporate policies and procedures, security program budget justification and review, and the integration of special investigation units within retail organizations.

Jeffrey Cartwright

Director of Fire Investigations

Mr. Cartwright joins SBI Security Services, Inc. after a long and distinguished career as an Assistant Prosecutor in Essex County, where he served for 15 years as the Director of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Arson Task Force, a multi-jurisdictional unit responsible for the detection, investigation and prosecution of all fire and explosion related crimes in the county.

During his tenure Mr. Cartwright personally responded to and participated in the investigation of hundreds of fire incidents, including the fire at Seton Hall University in 2000 that claimed the lives of three students. Drawing on his experience in fraud investigation, Mr. Cartwright was responsible for the design and implementation of a unique Vehicle Fire Initiative, funded by New Jersey’s Insurance Fraud Prosecutor, that put together a team of skilled and motivated personnel to work with the insurance industry to combat a scourge of insurance-related vehicle arsons in urban Essex County.

Mr. Cartwright holds undergraduate and law degrees from Rutgers University and has received training in fire investigation at the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice Academy, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, and the National College of District Attorneys. Mr. Cartwright has lectured extensively on subjects relating to fire investigation, and is an instructor for the Division of Criminal Justice Academy and the New Jersey Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators. Mr. Cartwright holds certificates for Fire Inspector I and II from the International Code Council, and is a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators, the National Association of Fire Investigators and the National Fire Prevention Association.

Andrew Martinez

Director of Armed and EP Services

Andrew Martinez is now well into his third decade of providing professional security services in both the public as well as the private sector.

After serving as a Correction Officer and then a New York City Police Officer, Mr. Martinez entered into the private sector of security, specializing in Executive Protection, Executive Transport and Firearms Training. Mr. Martinez has provided protection for such prominent clients as the Helmsley Properties (personally providing Executive Protection for Leona Helmsley as well as other top Helmsley executives), Citigroup’s Private Bank CEO as well as Charles Kushner (Kushner Companies Inc.).

Andrew is a licensed Private Investigator in New York, New Jersey, Maryland and Florida. He is certified as a Firearms Instructor, a Hand Gun Retention Instructor, an Interactive Training Instructor and an Instructor in the Use of Force Management. Andrew has studied security management at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York and completed comprehensive training in Methods of Security at the New York City Police Department.
